Our Parents ...

I am from Guatemala. I have five children. I was motivated to become a PIA leader because I know we are a group of parents fighting for the same goal: parents motivated to see equality and inclusion regardless of race or language. My favorite color is purple, the color of equality.
I'm Loyda Calderon. I have five children: Samy, Victoria, Sofia, Maria, and Ana, who passed away. I'm sharing my journey to empower other parents to do not give up. Victoria and I struggle a bit because I couldn't find a permanent and safe place for her care, and I spent a lot of time searching for a home without any answers.
One day, thank God I found MC3 and with it I found a good, reliable, and safe place for the care of my children.
I am extremely grateful with my case manager, Elsa Quintanilla, for her support of my children because now they are safe and happy to have my care.
I am also give my thanks to the Marin Child Care Council in general for fighting for our families. My motivation for choosing the PIA group and joining to be a leader is to learn together as a unit because I look toward kindness, understanding, motivation, and fighting for our families no matter the conditions. We are united there, and we will continue to look after the future of our children. Thank you all.

I was born in Guatemala and am the second of four siblings. My greatest inspiration and motivation in life is my mother, which is why I immigrated to the United States 15 years ago in search of a better future. I am the mother of two children: a 20-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son, and the proud grandmother of a 4-year-old granddaughter. My youngest son, who has autism and intellectual disabilities, has led me to deepen my knowledge on these topics.
Ruth Pérez.

I was born in Chile and have been married for 42 years. I have four children: two boys and two girls.
Throughout my life, I have felt a deep need to help people. Since I was little, my parents taught me to be empathetic and care for others. This led me to study and work as a nurse in my home country, where I gained experience helping those most in need. Then, when I began to navigate the world of inclusion, my passion for helping neurodiverse people intensified.
I enjoy working in teams because I understand the importance of creating support networks to improve people's lives through collaboration. That's why I'm interested in community work, especially in groups that support families, because I believe that by joining forces, significant changes can be achieved. Today, I remain committed to contributing to the well-being of my work and community, always looking for new ways to make a positive difference.
I have a beautiful 10-year-old daughter of whom I am very proud. I am grateful to God and to all the people who have supported me and my daughter, who is the greatest love of my life. I am also grateful for the invitation to participate in the PIA group because it has helped me so much as a mother, and being part of the leaders, I want to contribute in any way I can, and I am willing to give my all to support the entire PIA group.

I have educated myself and trained extensively to provide him with the support he needs and to help other families facing similar challenges. I am an empathetic and fair person, with a deep love for nature and animals. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and believe that human connection is essential for well-being. My favorite hobbies include watching movies, reading, and exploring places surrounded by nature.
My commitment to inclusion and support for people with intellectual disabilities drives me to continue learning and contributing to the community, with the conviction that every person deserves opportunities and an environment filled with respect, understanding, and love.
